Description

Overview

Volunteer with this sports education project in Trat, Thailand, and share your passion for sports and fitness! This is an excellent chance to encourage children to try new activities, with the purpose of educating them and helping them keep fit.

Arrival and Orientation

Arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), and transfer to Trat Airport (TDX). Pick-up from Trat Airport is available for $75 USD. Volunteers are assigned a dedicated coordinator based in-country, who leads pre-arrival, orientation, and is personally available to you daily for the duration of your program to assist you, answer any questions, provide information, and support.

Accommodations

The Trat volunteer house provides you with opportunity to socialize and meet like-minded travelers from around the world. Dormitories are single-gender bedrooms with bunks, and you have access to a modern kitchen, Western-style bathrooms, and amenities such as free wifi access, a landline telephone, laundry, and several chill-out spaces. The personal chef prepares two meals daily, with lunch available at restaurants or cooked at the dorm. Public transportation is nearby.

Field Conditions

Daily tasks during your volunteer program placement include working with the school sports teacher and supporting a variety of activities. You can help with training, create and deliver lesson plans, encourage children to participate in different activities, teach new sports, and lead physical education classes for children ages 8 through 12. There are several schools in the area, so you'll be involved in inter-school sports contests and tournaments. One week of local language class is included as well.

Your Impact

Small towns like Trat are underfunded and under-resourced, so physical education takes a backseat to other academics. You can help students learn new activities and become physically fit and healthy through enjoyable sports programs. Foster a love for fitness while you’re uncovering hidden talents as a sports education volunteer!
