TEFL Certification and Paid English Teaching in Thailand

Bangkok, Thailand Children & Youth Development

Explore Thailand in-depth and earn your TEFL certification! This internship provides an affordable opportunity to gain your TEFL/TESOL certification online or on location in Phuket, Bangkok, or Buriram, Thailand. Operating an internationally accredited program under a Thai Ministry of Education school license, participants are guaranteed a paid 5-month, 12-month, or longer teaching position in Thailand. No prior teaching experience or knowledge of Thai language is required to enroll, though a degree in any subject is required. Non-native English speakers whose English is proficient enough are welcome to participate.

To sign up, you must be a native English speaker (NES) with a bachelor’s degree or higher in any subject, or a non-native English speaker (NNES) fluent in English with a bachelor’s degree in any subject. NNES must take a TOEIC Test in Thailand and score over 900 to qualify for a work permit. You also must be 21 to 45 years old, though exceptions can be made for older participants.

Please note that this project is for those that would like to receive your TEFL/TESOL certification on-site plus attend orientation and placement.

If you'd like to receive your TEFL/TESOL certification online plus orientation and placement, the link to that version of this project is here.

Thailand is referred to as the “Land of A Thousand Smiles”, and program participants get to make a real, meaningful, and lasting difference in the lives of thousands of young Thai students while immersing themselves in Thai culture.

Field conditions

After completing the week-long seminar in Thailand, you will interview for teaching placements for three- to five-month or year-long English teaching stints. Once you are at your paid English teaching placement, you will receive a local salary. As native English speaker EFL/ESL instructor, you can expect a minimum initial payment of 30,000 Thai Baht per month, for the months that you are teaching. Non-native English speaking EFL/ESL instructors will receive a minimum salary of 25,000 THB per month for the months that you are teaching.

Arrival and orientation

You will start your journey at home by taking an internationally-accredited, 120-hour TEFL/TESOL certification course. In-classroom programs also are available in Thailand - alternatively, you can earn your certification in Thailand. For either option, you will take part in a meet-and-greet as well as a four-day orientation and professional development seminar that covers all areas and aspects of living, working, and teaching in
Thailand, including tips about living in a new
culture and environment. This seminar also will explore how
Thai classrooms differ from ones that you’re familiar with, and delve into the theories behind teaching English as a foreign language
through conversational classes to improve fluency, confidence, and ability.
