Social Travel: Volunteer in North India

Delhi, India Children & Youth Development

India is often referred to as a beautiful chaos with lots of different cultures, religions. beliefs etc.

Social Travel: North India, has been curated by The Tarzan Way Team to make sure that the volunteer is able to indulge in the diverse culture of India. With travel to 16+ cities in various corners of North India, you will be exploring everything from the bustling capital of India, to the sleepy towns of lower Himalayas and the royal cities of Rajasthan which seem to be stuck back in the times of kings and queens.

Do something meaningful while you travel by engaging in volunteering activities in accordance to the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations. Teach underprivileged children or talk to women about the problem they face due to their social-economic conditions. Make you travel meaningful by joining this project and gaining a whole new perspective about India and the world around you.

Despite being one of the fastest growing economies in the world, India still has rampant poverty, with children going to bed hungry and not getting proper education. Through the volunteering program, you might not be able to change the circumstances of the country but can definitely leave a positive imprint on the lives of the children and women you work with.

Field conditions

Volunteers will work with underprivileged children teaching them subjects such as English, Science, Maths, and other subjects. If the volunteer is skilled in sports, music, art, and other areas, then arrangements can be made to hold sessions on these. Various cultural exchange sessions are also organised with the volunteers and the students. The volunteer can share history, fun facts, folklore, and more about their own country and also learn a lot about India. Volunteer work in Women Empowerment and Marketing can also be arranged.

Arrival and orientation

Airport Pickup - Airport pickup is provided to volunteers. They are picked up by a TTW Experience Captain who drops the volunteer off at the accommodation.

Pre - Departure Orientation - Over a Skype call, the volunteer coordinates with a TTW Experience Captain who informs the volunteer about things such as volunteer work, safety tips, packing checklist, how to stay within budget, and more.

Visa and Flight Tickets - Support is provided while applying for a visa and buying flight tickets. An Invitation letter for a volunteer can also be provided for the visa application.

Arrival Orientation - The TTW Experience Captain helps the participant get in tune with the local area by showing them the local market place, helping them get a SIM card, get their currency exchanged, and more. In case of special needs such as gluten-free food, for example, arrangements are made in advance.

Start dates

The Tarzan Way is a travel based start up with the vision to showcase the Indian culture to travelers and to simplify travel.

We started as a backpacking home stay during which we hosted hundreds of travelers coming to India. We also hosted various volunteers and ran volunteer projects for them.

During that time we learned about various problems that travelers faced specially international travelers.

We decided to take action and developed our experiential travel programs.

Our Volunteering programs made specially for international travelers are much more affordable than other programs out there and a participant joining our program can be sure that he has someone to rely on during his/her stay in India.
